Solutions for DAOs

Monitoring for DAOs and Onchain Governance

DAOs manage billions in treasury across dozens of chains - multisig approvals, governance executions, and treasury movements need real-time visibility.

The Problem

DAO infrastructure runs on-chain but ops visibility runs blind

  • Treasury wallets move millions with no real-time alerts - the community learns from block explorers, not your team. DeepDAO tracks governance participation and treasury data across major DAOs - the scale of assets under DAO management makes real-time monitoring essential, not optional. DeepDAO governance analytics
  • Governance proposals depend on oracle price data that could be stale when the execution fires.
  • Multisig transactions are proposed and approved without any unusual-activity detection in place.
  • Timelocked proposal executors run without monitoring - a failed execution goes unnoticed for days.

The BlackTide Solution

Real-time visibility into every governance action

  • Treasury movement alerts fire the moment assets leave a Safe or any tracked wallet beyond your threshold.
  • Oracle health checks validate that price feeds used by governance proposals are fresh at execution time.
  • Multisig activity monitoring flags unusual approvals, sudden signature patterns, or unexpected signers.
  • Governance execution monitoring tracks timelock expirations and on-chain proposal state transitions.
  • Platforms like DAOhaus provide tooling for DAO operations, but operational monitoring of governance contracts and treasury wallets requires a dedicated layer. BlackTide fills this gap with real-time alerts on the on-chain events that matter most to a protocol DAO's operations team. DAOhaus DAO tooling

Capabilities

Operational visibility for decentralized organizations

From Safe multisigs to governance contracts - built for the complexity of running a protocol DAO.

Safe Multisig Monitoring

Track transaction proposals, individual signature approvals, and final executions in real time. Alert on unusual signing patterns or large pending transactions. Most protocol DAOs hold their treasury in a Safe (formerly Gnosis Safe) multisig. BlackTide monitors the full transaction lifecycle: proposal creation, individual signer approvals (with signer address tracking), and final execution - alerting at each stage so the governance team is never surprised by an unexpected treasury move.

Treasury Movement Alerts

Set threshold alerts on any tracked wallet address. Get notified when assets move above a defined USD or token amount - across all treasury wallets and chains. Threshold alerts can be configured per token and per chain: alert when more than 500,000 USDC leaves any wallet, or when any ETH transfer exceeds 100 ETH across any of your tracked addresses. Alerts include the transaction hash, sending address, receiving address, and USD value at time of transfer.

Governance Execution Monitoring

Watch on-chain proposal state transitions: queued, executed, cancelled. Track timelock expirations and alert when an execution is overdue or fails. Timelocked proposals are a common source of operational risk: the timelock expires, the team assumes someone executed it, and days later the proposal is still unexecuted. BlackTide sends a pre-expiration alert and a post-expiration follow-up if the execution has not been confirmed on-chain.

On-Chain Event Tracking

Monitor Snapshot vote tallies, Tally proposal state, and custom governance contract events. Full ABI support for bespoke governance implementations. For DAOs using OpenZeppelin Governor (supported by Tally), BlackTide monitors ProposalCreated, VoteCast, ProposalQueued, and ProposalExecuted events natively. Custom governance implementations are supported via ABI upload, covering any governance contract your DAO deploys.

Community Status Page

Post real-time updates to your DAO status page during governance events or treasury incidents. Keep contributors and token holders informed without manual announcements. For DAOs with transparent operations mandates, a public status page serves as the real-time record of governance activity: proposals in flight, treasury health, and any active incidents. Contributors and token holders can check the current operational state without needing to read block explorers.

Timelock Expiration Alerts

Never miss a timelock window. Get alerted before timelocked proposals expire so the execution team has time to act before the opportunity is lost. Alert timing is configurable: receive a first notice 48 hours before expiration, a second notice 24 hours before, and a final notice 4 hours before. If the execution team misses all three, the proposal expires and a post-expiration alert fires for retrospective review.

Use Cases

How DAOs use BlackTide

From protocol treasuries to grant programs and DeFi governance.

Protocol DAO - governance and treasury

A protocol DAO monitors governance contract executions and treasury rebalancing across three chains. Treasury movement alerts above $500K route to the council multisig immediately.

Grant DAO - disbursement tracking

A grant committee monitors disbursement multisig activity. Each approved transfer generates an alert for the treasurer and an automatic entry on the public financial transparency page.

DeFi DAO - oracle-dependent proposals

A DeFi DAO monitors the oracle feeds that inform interest rate proposals. When a feed goes stale within 12 hours of an execution, the governance team is alerted to delay.

Common questions from DAO teams

Does it support Safe (Gnosis Safe)?
Yes. BlackTide monitors Safe multisigs by watching the contract events for ProposedTransaction, ApproveHash, and ExecutionSuccess. You get an alert at each stage of a multisig transaction lifecycle.
What about Tally and Snapshot?
BlackTide monitors on-chain governance contracts compatible with the OpenZeppelin Governor standard, which Tally supports. Snapshot off-chain vote tracking via webhook is on the near-term roadmap.
How do I monitor treasury movements?
Add your treasury wallet addresses as wallet monitors. Set a threshold (e.g., any transfer above 100,000 USDC) and choose your alert channels. BlackTide tracks ERC-20, native token, and NFT transfers.
Can it alert on proposal executions?
Yes. BlackTide monitors governance contract events for ProposalExecuted, ProposalQueued, and ProposalCanceled. You can create incidents automatically when an execution happens and publish a community update.
Does it work with Layer 2 governance?
Yes. BlackTide supports Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and Polygon governance contracts in addition to Ethereum mainnet. L2 governance is increasingly common and fully supported today.
How does BlackTide help with DAO financial transparency?
Financial transparency is increasingly expected from protocol DAOs - token holders want to verify that treasury movements are authorized and accounted for. BlackTide enables this by generating an automatic record of every treasury event: each treasury movement alert includes the transaction hash, timestamp, asset, amount, and wallet addresses. These events can be forwarded to a public log (via webhook to a public API or community Discord channel) to create a real-time transparent record of governance-authorized treasury activity. Combined with a public status page, this gives your DAO a credible operational transparency story that does not require additional tooling.
